Where did you find this thing? The sad thing is that the gap is just going to continue to get wider and wider. Inflation is going to continue to rise, people's income will rise slower, and the price of an college education in this country is increasing in at rate that does not even compare. Without education, that gap will increase. Of course, its all just my opinion!
