Damn this Dodge Charger Commercial is stupid.

I just saw this post {a little late on the Reader catch-up game} and I have to say that i absolutely hated the Dodge Charger commercials along with the Dockers "wear the pants" and the mobile TV commercials but not because they were sexist per se.

It's more the depiction of relationships as stifling obligations that men feel they need to do. I feel that these types of advertisements put out a bad stereotype about relationships. No wonder there's the perpetual bachelors of the world with commercials like this reminding them how oppressive and emasculating relationships are.

I believe that relationships should be freeing and make you a better person but maybe I'm just naive.

I think the commercial is almost funny…but not quite. Maybe its the tone? It seems exasperated, when maybe it should be said in a more ironic and humorous tone? I like the women's version better, but same issue exists and I obviously can't get behind the "I will allow to cheat on me with younger women." although "I will assure you that if there were a medal for air drumming you would win it." is pretty hilarious. I used to date a guy that would tell me that it's men god given right to air guitar. It was so ridiculous when he would suddenly bust it out while making dinner.

I found this commercial (and unfortunately a couple of others) pretty offensive when first aired during the Super Bowl. In combination with the others it seemed anti-female. Indpendently, not as much although the spoof is great.

Just think, people will look at you now with a little more respect thinking you're all tough and aggressive. Work it girl! Lol

I don't think I've actually driven one of those. I have driven it's "younger sibling" the Avenger, and it had a little bit of pep. Chrysler and Dodge interiors though are a bit cheap looking in my opinion. Too many sharp angles.
