Link Love: The Week in Review

New cool blog I found.

If you are trying to get back into learning French, or just like reading French words and things, then this is the blog for you.

French Word-A-Day

(actually, 3 times a week)

What I love best, is that Kristen writes mostly in English, but throws in French words and phrases here and there to help your brain adjust.

Then she explains each word in detail, AND the word of the day is given to you in a sentence or an audio file.

Example:

une remise (reuh meez) noun, feminine

: discount

Audio File and Example sentence: Download Wav or Download MP3

Je suis désolée, mais la remise que j’ai mentionnée hier, n’était pas valable.
I am sorry, but the discount that I mentioned yesterday was not valid.

le livre (m) = book; ce qui monte doit descendre = what goes up must come down; et c’est le cas de le dire = and that’s the least one can say; la rédaction (f) = composition (editing); désolée = sorry; même sans remise = even without the discount

Cool huh?

Moving on…

This is hilarious.

    Hello!
Just a precision… you live in Montreal right? Nobody will say "remise", that's French. You must say "rabais" :)

Yes I live in Montreal, but I’m learning Parisian French via BF who is from France…

Besides, the blog is in France, so she’s using French idioms and phrases.

I always love your link posts =D That pie looks delish!

Btw, I ended up making bagels and banana muffins on Sunday. Definitely worth the hours in the kitchen.
