It is officially freezing cold
I ventured out yesterday (for the first time in December) in -16 degrees C.
(Just a little below 0 degrees Fahrenheit).
It wasn’t as cold as I had originally imagined, but it still sucked.
This is my view outside my window this morning:
When I was downtown, and going into a mall/store, the funny thing is that I started to get this nauseous, dizzy, tired, and sick feeling when I was inside.
Maybe it was my brain’s way of saying:
Don’t you DARE buy any clothing!
YOU ARE ON A WARDROBE BAN, GIRL!
But I was totally fine when I was outside.
Perhaps it was too much dry heat for me.
Or an overload of human interaction, after being an apartment hermit for so long.
As a result, I didn’t buy or browse much.
I just wanted to go back to my cave and hibernate the winter away.
This is my window today:
This is now what I am planning on doing from December > March.
That’s right.
Getting fat off cookies.
(You can buy a t-shirt with my face being stuffed with a cookie at Forever 21 for $12.80 CAD)
No seriously, I really am stuffing my face for hiberation:
A girl’s gotta have a little body fat to stay warm in this weather.
BF made this the other day.
Took 2 bottles of alcohol, lots of delicious shrimp, and big chunks of chicken.
It’s called “Poulet Marengo” or Marengo Chicken, in English.
Will post the recipe translation some day, but it’s for more advanced cooks (not me).
Then I ate the leftovers with my own concoction of sides:
And made pork meatballs.
The recipe was delicious and juicy which was surprising because I have never made meatballs before.
Maybe it was all that butter I added
Will post the recipe and make them again.
So my haircut cost $48
$48 for a wash, cut, style and tip included.
They also gave me a free facial mask for Christmas!
Also, there’s a loyalty program. 6 hair cuts and you get the 7th for free.
Gotta love M&C Salon on Ste-Catherine near Concordia.
2089 Rue Sainte-Catherine OuestMontreal, QC H3H 1M6, Canada(514) 846-8880
Stylists: Andy Yang was pretty awesome. He made my hair look great when up in a ponytail. And it looked great as model hair. (See post here.)
I got Sunny or Emily (?) this time around, and it’s just a basic layering cut.
Chopped of 2″ and didn’t shed a tear
Truthfully, I am not one of those girls who cry every time half an inch leaves their hair.
I’m more of:
Do anything you want.
Just make sure I can put it back up in a ponytail and don’t give me any hair style that would be hard to deal with in the morning.
I refused any kind of product on my hair, or straightening iron.
But I did let her massage my scalp and blow dry my hair because I’m a hedonist like that.
I also didn’t want my hair to freeze into icicles when I left.
BF didn’t still hasn’t noticed
It’s been almost 24 hours, and he still hasn’t noticed.
I am not inclined to blame him because:
A) It’s just a haircut. I didn’t get a mohawk, or dye my hair blonde.
B) He’s been working a lot. Like leaving at 7 a.m., coming home at 6 p.m.
C) I’ve been wearing heavy sweaters that cover the ends of my hair.
D) He’s a guy. Guys .. just don’t notice things unless your arm has been hacked off.
(Yes, I’ve been watching too many detective & medical dramas lately)
And I got candy: $11 worth
Namely butter fudge & Mini Eggs.
This was in lieu of buying sushi.

The Marengo Chicken makes me want to barf, it looks so good. I’m jealous. We’ve been eating a lot of chocolate chip cookies and sandwiches lately, which, while delicious, is not exactly healthy or heart-warming like this looks.

Lately I havent had the time to do things that I want during the holiday season. I'm constantly working and as soon as I get home, I'm so wiped. I don't want to do anything. Christmas is coming soon and I still have no idea what I'm going to buy for 20 people. Yes…20 PEOPLE!! This weekend will be extremely busy for me, getting gift ideas as well as buying gifts. I'm working so hard and putting in overtime just to make sure I can buy everyone important to me a gift. I can't wait til the holiday season is over so I can get back to my normal routine.
BTW, your boyfriend did a great job on the first meal. It looks so good!

Haha, ♥ how the BF didn't notice the haircut. When I got my nose pierced, it took Pete like 2 days to notice. *snicker* Of course, the stud was smallish and probably not really noticeable.
I've only been doing two things: working my butt off @ Booster Juice & hibernating. I had to trek out to Wal-Mart when it opened this AM (since I was already awake, anyways) & try to get my shopping done.

Lately … well, making cookie dough and sticking it in the freezer, ready for baking up on the 24th. Getting the last of my gifts.
And there's always work … but that is automatically determined when I wake up each weekday. I actually haven't been doing a lot. Reading in bed on weekend afternoons, watching fireworks from my apartment (they are part of Toronto's Cavalcade of Lights every Saturday night. The first weekend, I actually went downtown, but for the rest of the weeks, I've been watching them from the apartment window (where it's warm!).
Oh, and is listening to the Glee soundtrack on repeat (singing along, of course) counts for anything, then I've been quite busy! (I do love when I'm the only one in the office and I can belt out showtunes! haha)

That is waaaay too cold for me. I wouldn't want to leave the house either. Make sure your heat is on! Might not be a problem in an apartment building, but in sub-freezing weather, this insures that the pipes don't freeze (along with turning on the water to a trickle overnight).
Mini-eggs for Christmas?! I've never seen such a thing. In the states, it's purely and Eastertime thing. Am jealous!

It was -20 here this morning. I bundled up like I was the kid on the cover of Robert Munsch's Thomas' Snow Suit.
The chicken looks super yummy. I gotta find a recipe for it one day.

I'm too tired to post a coherent reply so here are some bullet points =P
-We were the coldest place in Canada the other day! Yah, not something to brag about >.< It went down to like, minus fifty eight including windchill. Talk about gross.
-Guys just…don't notice stuff like that. But post pics, because I promise that we will give you all the hair-praise you could ever ask for, LOL!
-I'm done my required client cuts and I have to say… I'm feeling pretty good about this cutting thing. The salon you mentioned sounds really great, but if for whatever reason you're ever in Edmonton, I AM cutting your hair. Total makeover — facial, haircut and style, and a couple makeup lessons!
-<3 the tee. That's my plan as well. (yesIhavealreadystarted)
