3 Things a Day

Ever feel like your To Do list is getting out of control?

Have a million things on there?

Cut the crap and….

Do 3 things a day.

Every morning, I make a quick list.

I try to vary it by picking a task in each category: Household, Blog, Personal, Work.

For example, today is:

  1. Laundry and Ironing
  2. Clean up Blog emails
  3. Vacuum apartment (I think I saw a dust bunny with her family come up and wave hello)

If I had work it’d be:

  • Some-major-job-related-task
  • Laundry and Ironing
  • Eat a whole chocolate bar (okay, just kidding) Back up all my files on hard drives

After those 3 things, you feel that you’ve accomplished SOMETHING instead of wasting the day away.

You’ve cleared up a bit of your To Do list that you keep telling yourself you’ll get around.

And you feel free to do whatever you like for the rest of the day (maybe more To Do items?)

Did you like the post? Then please share the love!

LOL Perfect timing for my current post about having an anti-procrastination weekend. =)

I like the idea of three things a day. Tis a good plan!

@SS4BC: Thank you! And it really works. You don’t feel stressed out or anything once you’re done the 3 things. You feel awesome.

I dunno if I can limit myself to three things, but I did that yesterday and it worked out well! Usually if I write them down either the day before or that morning, I feel a bit more inspired to get the stuff actually done.

Nice! I need to do that. I’ve basically done something to that –

    1. Looked for jobs
    2. Grocery shopping
    2. Blogged

I like 3 things. With my Mary Kay paperwork, we’re suppose to make a To Do List ….. actually, 1 Mary Kay related & 1 for personal life … of 6 things to do that day. I think that’s too much! I like the three things better. Simpler!

I'm a type-A personality, so it's especially cruel irony that I ended up with such severe fatigue. It drove me nuts for years. After a LOT of therapy and a LOT of banging my head against a proverbial wall, I finally have (more or less) come to terms with how much I can do in a day. So most days I set myself up with 2-3 things that need to get done. If the depression or the energy situation is particularly bad, sometimes on one thing gets crossed off. But more often than not, I can get 2-3 things done without wiping myself out. It's a great feeling.

And if I have more than three things? I make a list and I take pride in crossing at least 2 things out a day. It's not perfect, but at least I get to see myself making progress.

Today's to-do? Make a list of stuff Tim and I each have to get done (because it's Veteran's Day and most of the places we need to call/visit aren't open); check grocery ads/coupons to plan out this week's grocery shopping; make a cake to satisfy that chocolate craving.

Proud to say they're already done! The cake is cooling off in anticipating of being frosted. I even got some stuff cleared out of the fridge (when you don't set yourself up for a zillion things you SHOULD be doing, sometimes you find extra energy to do something not on the list).
