That's awesome! I hate conjugations as well (so many of them in Spanish!) What I love about Chinese is that it's so zen - there's no past or future (tense), only the present. ;) That's a nerdy language joke for ya!

If I may add, as a french, I would add than the future I will have is "j'aurai" and not "je vais avoir" which is actually used sometimes but for wrong.
And french is no more difficult than english, you just have to get used to it... as a lot of people has to get used to english (or american, or autralian or...).
Just be aware of the way you think and draw your own language in all consciousness is not the same way than other do.
It took me some times to really learn english, I had to wait to actually enjoy it and enjoy the way of thinking it.
And it will be easier for you as so much english are now spreading so much in french (but also in other languages, english is the so called international language).
Anyway enjoy this and try not to think it seriously it is the best to sound very ..scholar.
And I do apologize for my stiff and bad english.

Hey FB,

It's cute to hear from your first steps in the French language. A word of support: if put your head down, soon you'll speak it fluently (especially if you immerse yourself - talk with BF??). Been there, done that (and my mother tongue is related to English, so it's not like I had it easier). Conjugations will become automatic in no time, trust me. There's much trickier stuff (like the subjunctive). Oh and the idea that English is a richer language than French is most likely mistaken (so that means you'll have to learn a lot of words!). Anyway, kudos to you for taking on this challenge! Tip: talk French to the BF and listen to French radio for 5 min a day (it's EXTREMELY discouraging at first because you won't get a word, but it's also EXTREMELY effective in the long run).

In german you have masculine, femenine and neutral words and depending which word you used the other words in the sentences have to adapts themself to the sustantive's gender. Me, coming from Spain, I'm used to have a gender in names, but still is a real pain in the a**. I love English!!!!! No gender, a few verbal conjugations,...

A little known frugal tip is that the language content of the expensive Rosetta Stone programs is in the public domain. These were developed by the US Foreign Service. So if you can do without the fancy graphics, you can save a bundle.
