Agree! Especially as a college student who changes dorms/apartments every year. I never understood why anyone needed to decorate their entire rooms to take them down in a few months.. My bedroom at home is not really decorated either, except some colorful paint on the walls. I like having my belongings represent me, more than decorations which are costly and have no other purpose besides sitting there looking pretty.

I'm an artist and an interior designer/architect. I can't have anything on my walls and I do not own one single nic nac. I love simplicity in my space. That said, I'm more than happy and not opposed in any way to "decorating" some one else's space. I love different materials than blend together well for me but, again, I love to mix up all kinds of patterns and textures for my clients. David Hockney, Isaak Mizrahi, and Donna Koran all dress simply as do most architects. Many creative individuals need visually clear environments to work in.

*laughing* I hope you didn\'t divorce because you two were incompatible house-wise. :)

My BF and I are very minimalist, but not to the extremes, so we don\'t judge each other for the amount stuff we have unless he sees my clothes collection packed :P

I really really admire your life style, wish I could live like that. I will sell my house once the market bounces back. My ex husband was a pack rat!!!!!! We have so many pieces of furnitures in the bedroom (large 300 square master bed room) that I constantly bumped my toes.

that's why we divorced. I am a minimalist, he's a hoader, boy those equations don't match. when we divorced, we had to sell/donate so many pieces of heavy or junky furnitures and his clothes & shoes that he left behind. . . . .I am glad he's out of my life. I am much happier now, and I have a partner who is also a minimalist. :-)

keep up the good work, your blog is very inspiring. :-)
