FB Reminder: I am away on vacation right now. This post has been scheduled ahead of time.
I won’t be moderating comments until end of August 2009. Thanks for your patience!

Today I’m interviewing the gorgeous Onada from Onada’s Lookbook.

What’s behind your blog name and what made you want to start blogging?

Well my blog name –lookbook by Onada is based on my middle name and I love fabulous fashion and so I thought it would be a pretty cool idea to start my own fashion blog and post the things I love.

What are the major things that define who you are and inspires you?

God and my parents.

I’m inspired daily by everything around me.

In your line of work, does fashion play a huge role?

Well in my day job as an engineer – no. I work in a very laid back environment and with mostly guys. Mon – Thurs people attempt to be business casual but it’s more casual than anything else – no one there appreciates what I wear.

(FB: LOL!!! Oh.. poor girl. Well, we appreciate what you wear!)

However in my other job, as a wedding photographer, fashion plays a big role – I make sure I’m always dressed well for client meetings and I get to show my more of fashionable side, experiment, mix it up but still be tasteful.

Why did you choose your line of work?

Well going to college and getting a real job seemed like the right thing to do (lol).

On the other hand I absolutely love photography and so becoming a wedding photographer was perfect for me to create my art and make some extra money on the side!

Pick 4 dishes you could eat for the rest of your life!

Cosi’s greek salad without Onions and whole grain flat bread

Rita’s watermelon gelati

Jollof Rice and Fried Plantains

Warm Apple Pie and Vanilla Ice cream

Why is fashion and style such an important subject for you?

I believe appearances count for a lot and fashion helps you express your individuality. Besides, I have an obsession with pretty looking things and I can’t imagine my life with out fashion or fashion magazines – it would be so boring!

Why is personal finance such an important subject for you?

My father always taught me to never become a liability on myself or anyone else for that matter. And there’s nothing in the world that beats the feeling of being independent.

Personal finance is huge to me because I crave independence and love to have that sense of security that no matter what happens, I will be ok.

Name your 3 best buys/investments, and why do you consider them so?

1. My black Chanel Classic Jumbo – I’ll have this purse forever

2. A black jersey shift dress from H&M I bought in Vienna in 2000 and I still wear a few times a month. Its basic but professional, its stretchy, doesn’t need ironing, goes with everything and makes me look great! Plus it looks almost like the day I bought it.

3. My Siegerson Morrison flats that I wear everyday, they are super comfortable and I’ve worn them to bits

What are the 3 worst fashion trends….EVER?

Harem pants – PLEASE NO

(FB: I second that. They look like diaper pants. I’m sorry. They do.
I’m all for fashion, but this is just .. silly.)

Oversize clothing or clothes that are clearly too tight – umm why?

Girls not being able to walk in their heels. This is hilarious and just kills the entire look. If you can’t walk in them, don’t buy them!

(FB: You have to rock it out like Victoria Beckham!!!)

Do you have a signature touch?

I love embellished shoes and clothing so you’ll usually find me wearing something that has some sort of embellishment on it.

I wear a lot of dresses and I consider my black shift dress I mentioned above my fail-safe outfit.

I also have a blue Shelli Segal dress I love (doesn’t need ironing either so it’s perfect!) I’m not loyal to any fragrances – there are just too many I like

What’s are 5 top things/services you can’t live without?

  • My Blackberry
  • My computer
  • My little purse camera
  • Lip gloss
  • Internet

You have $1000 to spend. Where would you go and what would you look for?

I’d go to the bank to put $300 in savings and then I’d hit Saks for a new pair of loubous!

What’s on your “Must-Buy” list right now?

24 – 70mm Nikon lens

Chanel pearl drop and crystal earrings

Name 3 of the most frustrating things about going shopping

Long lines and over crowded stores
Annoying and intruding sales associates
Not finding an item I really really really want in my size

What are the 3 worst financial mistakes a person can make?

Not saving before shopping
Over extending yourself by buying what you can’t afford
Not taking debt and savings seriously enough

(FB: A girl after my own heart!! Thanks for doing the interview Onada)

Thanks Onada! :)
