As much as we hate to admit it, everything in life is about money.
It sounds so cold to be talking about human relationships and life in terms of money, but it’s fascinating (to me) how everything boils down to dollars and cents in some way.
Everything you do, every relationship you have, it will all center around money sooner or later.
They pay you to do your job at work. You aren’t there to work for free, and they sure ain’t paying you to do jack.
Getting married, one of the most modern, romantic unions that could happen also centers around money: the cost of the wedding, who is going to contribute what, how you are going to spend that money, and even if you should sign a pre-nup to protect your pre-marital assets.
Or how about at home? Your husband or wife stays at home to watch the kids, and you have to support them financially. You are basically trading money, or your earning power, to have them give you some sort of benefit at home — taking care of the kids, cleaning, cooking, looking pretty, whatever floats your boat.
And if you wanted to go back and see your family for some reason or another, you wouldn’t think twice about whether or not it’s a good thing. But you would think about the cost of the ticket, the hotel, the days off work, etc and so on.
Or how about having a pet? Having a dog or a cat is a wonderful thing for some people (not me, I’m allergic to a T and yet, every one of my siblings owns a furry companion), but they sure cost money. LAL has 2 Bichon Frises and she talks about how they’re expensive, but a great learning opportunity for kids, to teach them responsibility for example.
Think about all the different things you do in life, and you can see that there is a cost, price or some sort of monetary transaction associated with each.
Not that I’m saying that we should turn everything into dollars and cents, but even in the unlikeliest of situations, money comes into play in some form or another.
