Can’t get enough of my Link Loves, and you hate only seeing them once a month? Why don’t you get them “real-time” as they are shared in my Google Reader? Makes MY life a lot easier anyway
Just add this link: FB’s Google Reader to your RSS Feed (if you use Google Reader)!
A Saudi Judge ruled that it is okay for men to slap their wives if they spend too much money. This certainly goes a long way in changing Western attitudes about Eastern practices, doesn’t it?
(Did you sense that heavy sarcasm?)
Penelope Trunk from The Brazen Careerist (whom I have stopped reading, but is still shared in my Google Reader Shared Items when she comes up with good stuff), says that these are the 3 times you should always lie: when you are messy, pregnant or job hunting.
Want a quick laugh? Read on MinxEats about solving the mystery of the missing bacon…
My dad was so excited.. he called to tell me about something (only available to U.S. Residents.. BOO!!!) called Magic Jack for REALLY cheap VOIP $20/year telephone calls on any computer with a working internet connection, anywhere in the WORLD, calling internationally for FREE.
Like Skype or Vonage, but much cheaper/better/portable. Look into it. It sounds pretty cool and if I were in the States, I’d SO BUY ONE!!!!
Want a new way of organizing your To Do list? This is something I’ve been doing long before David Allen and his confusing GTD (Get Things Done) system came along. It’s called “WSD” or… (WRITE STUFF DOWN).. Hah! Via Unclutterer.
I have never liked memorizing any system for organization, and I admit, I gave Allen’s a shot but he just confused me. Too many categories.
Culinary Adventures of a Newlywed Wife made a gorgeous looking, creamy Lobster Mac & Cheese.
I normally don’t like Macaroni and Cheese (childhood thing), especially if it comes from a Kraft Box, but this one looks INCREDIBLE!
The only change I’d make, is not to put in Velveeta cheese (any kind of odd processed cheese makes my belly hurt).
This plaster can apparently track and kill cancer cells! Or so, Ubergizmo reports. If that were true, that would be neat, and efficient.. possibly less painful than having to go through major chemotherapy and radiation.
Get organized, just by sitting in one spot and staying put, says Life Hacker. The key is to NOT leave the room you are trying to declutter, so that you work on what’s at hand and you get the job done.
Carrie from It’s Frugal Being Green outlines some very simple rules to conserve water. Do people really still leave the tap running when they brush their teeth? That drives me MAD. I turn it off instinctively when I see it happen. It has annoyed BF a couple of times, but I told him not to waste water.
The Digerati Life expounds on the benefits of biking to work. It’s a nice pipe dream for me, and I’d love to bike to work… except A) it’s not safe with these crazy drivers in Quebec on the road, and B) I sometimes work in places an hour away BY CAR…
Dressed up like a lady has some serious style. Both quirky but classic, she can really pull it off. Everything works without looking too dodgy or hum drum.
Old books can really be turned into art. Just check it out at Apartment Therapy.
Looking to be green while still shopping online? We all know that when packages come in the mail, we regretfully toss the box because we don’t have a purpose for it in our home (what a waste!)
This design student has come up with the idea of a box that can be used to package items, yet transforms into a clothing hanger with a couple of nips and tucks. Check it out. Via Unclutterer.
I haven’t experienced this in Canada, but apparently in the States you get some really odd looks from people if you refuse a plastic bag for any reason and instead of reusing the bag they gave you for the next customer, they toss it in the garbage.. WHAT!!!!
I don’t get why people get odd looks. Is everyone not aware of this green movement yet? Via The Unplastic Life
The Japanese have done it again. This time, is heart-shaped watermelons (that country has some serious fetish with melons in general.. and I’m not talking about euphemisms here!) I must admit, the heart shapes are kind of cute. Via Boing Boing.
Apartment Therapy tells us all the wonderful things we can repurpose for organization, such as using old ice cube trays for example!
This Aesop Store really knows their stuff in design! I have never been excited about their individual store design or displays, but this makes me want to become a store designer or something.
Check out the really cool bottle ceiling in one of their stores to the right… Via Apartment Therapy
Doe Deere clears the scoop by answering a reader’s question on how horrible parabens really are for the human body and even the environment.
Long story short, she thinks they’re okay, because the tests weren’t conclusive, and everyone’s just responding to panic rather than reason.
That may be so, but my stand has always been: The less you process, the better it could be.
And that goes for food as well — more natural, raw food is starting to creep into my diet.. and if I can avoid putting extra chemicals I don’t understand on my face, all the better.
If anything, I want to put a smaller footprint on the earth and try to cherish beautiful things in nature that seem to be dying a slow death, like the honeybees.
