Fabulously Broke in the City

I’m returning the shoes.

I really, really dislike the shoes. They just are too black and odd. If they were brown, I’d keep them but for some reason the colour turns me off.

Superficially, they just don’t go with anything in my wardrobe (I don’t own anything black) and it is all I can think about when I look down at my feet.

I’ll return them and keep looking for a replacement.

I bought them (in case you were wondering) because they were $77 and a decent pair of shoes. But I just can’t get over the colour.

The Bay is still having their 30% – 70% Bay Days sale, so maybe I’ll find something there if I just take my time and don’t buy on impulse.

My budget was around $100 for shoes before tax. I was willing to spend up to that amount but I cannot imagine spending $185 for a pair of Cole Haan Nike Air Soles ballet flats, no matter how comfortable or semi-cute they are.

$200 is ridiculous. They aren’t THAT comfortable and I don’t want to pay for a brand name. I’m sure I can find a better deal if I just take my time and look.

These shoes pictured to the left are on sale right now for $128 on the Cole Haan site. If I could find that pair.. maybe.

My criteria for my shoes

  • Cannot be black
  • Must be a shade of dark brown or even a dark blue or grey is OK
  • Leather upper so that it can mold to my foot
  • Proper support on the heel and the arch, not a flimsy ballet flat for fun
  • Available in sized 7.5 or 8 because when I walk a lot, my feet REALLY stretch half-to-a-whole size. It’s kind of crazy and I can always pad it to make it fit when I am not walking.

And I don’t want sandals because I do wear these shoes in the spring, summer and autumn, they are my go-to shoes for going out. ALL the time.
