First….
I’d like to thank you all for the really honest and kind comments. I’m taking them to heart and will do my best to improve!
Can’t improve without constructive criticism, right?
The profile of about half of my readers:
You are a female aged 20-29, living in the United States, earning $20,000 – $49,999/year, living mostly debt-free without a mortgage. (Congrats, by the way!)
Only one guy responded out of 100. Wow.
And I love hearing where you all come from specificially. Making me re-think the idea of staying Anonymous and maybe meeting up with more of y’all in Toronto, Montreal or Dallas.
We’ll see.
Your superfragilisticexpelladocious comments:
Huh you noticed huh!?!?
You’re right – I am benched right now and I have a LOT of time on my hands.
…which led to some crazy posting, but I’m capping it at 3 posts a day, or less.
I think one commenter said it best: I like your posts, but I’d rather have ONE fab post than many little ones.
I’m not going to give up on the little posts, but I’ll stick to a new strategy of doing one solid post and 2 little ones, spaced out.
Most of you said that I was posting at around the right amount, but you must be bored at work or at home like me LOL!
I’ll just beef them up more and make more scheduled posts with 3-5 hour intervals.
Posting Frequency Note:
You’re going to think I’m weird, but I actually have posts scheduled up to 4 months in advance (and growing!)
Imagine if I unleashed all of the posts I have written up until now on you, I think I’d lose all of you in one shot from your RSS Feeds exploding all over the world. :\
You like my randomness of topics (not all finance or style)
…but specifically, you want me to tone it down on the really random BF conversations that don’t have a place on the blog.
You also find the tone to be very weird – either authoritative or laissez-faire, which is understandable, because I write a lot of things ahead of time depending on my mood, and sometimes I mix moods..
I’ll try and fix that and do some careful editing when I think something is just too random.
You’re jealous of my income and wish I’d shut up sometimes
…so I am not going to stop posting about it, but I am going to be more sensitive when I get all crazy $_$ on a project.
You all know I’m super proud of the income and what I’m doing of it, so no need to beat a dead horse.
I should keep the income love to a minimum, but not eliminate it completely.
Not many of you cared about the IT industry except for one or two really earnest readers.
…so I’m going to write a specific response to what they wanted to know about.
You want more posts on Personal Finance Help (Debt, Budgeting, Saving).
…so I’m going to try, but to be honest I feel weird repeating the same things over and over again.
So I’ll write about how to bust out a budget, or get out of debt once, and that’s it. I’ll refer you to that post.
If you check my RIGHT side bars under “Saver” I made categories/labels of my best posts.
Labels are a good idea (thanks commenter!), but there’s a lot of fluff in those 1200+ posts.
I’ve whittled them down to my own tags: Debt, Saving, Investing/Taxes/Retirement

Other top contenders with around 50% of the votes:
- Home/Organization (Minimalism)
- Life Tips (General)
- Everyday Personal Style
- Rants & Reflections
I guess you want to basically purge stuff in your life, feel more zen, and get a little Martha Stewart meets Oprah and has an adopted 3-way love child with Cougar Suze Orman action going on in this blog.
Okay. Will try!
You want less posts on High Fashion, but in general don’t want me to cut out any topics
…this was an overwhelming response of “GOD I HATE THAT” to the High Fashion stuff.
Understandable, that stuff is totally out of your (and my!) price range. Ugh. $3000 for a purse?
So.. *snip* I got rid of all the future scheduled Fashion Show coverage posts (I had 2 coming up).
Woot! It just means I save on Picasa-Blogger image upload usage.
You hate how cluttered my blog layout is visually, but subscribe in an RSS feed to escape it
…and I hate the blog clutter too, so I started cleaning it up and trying to pare down on the side bars.
I’m working on getting another theme in there, or at least expanding the damn thing so it doesn’t squish in so much.
That’s my problem. The Squish.
(Blogger’s faux HTML is making me angry. If anyone can tell me how to open up the Blogger layout, I’d be forever grateful: brokeinthecity at gmail dot com)
Honourable comments that made me think or laugh:
….As much as it entices me to get the “honor” of being mocked on your blog, I don’t have anything bad to say.
All the posting about your car and trying to justify its purchase makes me feel sad inside. It’s sort of like when a big cloud moves in front of the sun and a cold wind suddenly picks up and a bunch of dirt blows into your eyes.
The posting frequency is a bit much right now, but I understand you are home all day and don’t have much else to do than think and post.
….I’ve never commented because I have another blog which is so completely different to what you post but I hope you’ll forgive the lurking. If I didn’t like what I read, I wouldn’t read.
Can’t remember how I arrived at your blog, but I stayed on reading it because I was astonished by the amount of your debt when you left university. The place where I came from we don’t incur such debts as universities are free, and for the paid ones the parents pay the fees (it is a cultural thing), so in a sense I was lucky!
