Verdict: Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

So I tried that Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate concoction (hey, this week seems to be all about trying sweet, new things…)

Anyway, my verdict is a 5 out of 10. Total MEH.

It was a bit too chocolate-y (which was the issue with their Chantico a while back), with 4 chocolate mixtures in the actual drink.

The best part about it was the whipped cream, drizzled with caramel and then that salt thrown on top of it.

Caramel + Salt = AWESOME (which is why it got 4 extra stars)

But in the end, it`s a bit too rich and kind of not sweet enough or creamy enough. Not my cup of hot chocolate, really.

However, now I`m lemming after caramel + salt. I`m going to salt sweet things from now on to see what flavour profiles burst out on my tongue…

I’ve never tried either, and I think I’ll just stick with my Misto for now, if the salted caramel drink isn’t working for you.

Thanks for the review! This is the type of drink I’d try too. I find most of their drinks too sweet, especially the last 2-3 sips.

I liked it. I just wished it was a bit hotter. I read somewhere that people have been adding a shot of espresso. I may do that next time.

I miss the chantico! SO DELICIOUS! Like a melted Hershey bar! I don’t understand why they don’t make it anymore.

There was a big fuss in the NYT about making chocolate chip cookies with sea salt:

Seemed like a lot of work, but… Yum.

I’m thinking I need to try me some salty + sweet…it’s all the rage lately. Here’s a recipe for crispy salted oatmeal white chocolate cookies that have been lingering in my bookmarks:

Would it be bad if I said it looks gross? Salty sweet? yuck.
