Foxie: Nixing sentimental? Talking to the wrong girl. I still have dresses my mom made for me as a little girl. Am hoping to make MY little girl wear it. Even if I get a boy :P

I'm the same with manga by the way...

koko: I like my closet to look like a store.

feli: I am working on a solution. So far, am considering little zip purses.

Always: :) Great line eh?

Michelle: I know. But I want prettiness too.

Kat: What a great idea! I'll take a look at it

I got an orginization email from MS the other day that said to use a piece of pipe insulation to store your cords- one for each cord & then you can label the outside. I really need a way to store mine, too & love this idea. I think that I'll be going to buy pipe insulation this weekend. :)

The link is here:
http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=4a47d0f19132f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default&rsc=header_3&autonomy_kw=cord+labels?xsc=eml_org_2008_10_07

I'm a big fan of bankers boxes and ziploc bags. The main point, however, is having a system that you can live with and will actually use.

What a wonderful post - and I love the line "But it’s not the containers that organize you, it’s the system." How true that is!

Owhh.. thanks for sharing. I am with you on the shoe bit.

I purge my clothes at the end of summer and at the end of winter.

As for the cords, I use clear plastic bags that I get from the shops. It helps keep them together and not fill up the landfill but its not sexy like you said. :*)

Let me know if you come up with a solution

I'm not so bad with my closet... I'm pretty much down to whatever is new and all the things I wear on a regular basis. It's everything else that gets to me. :( I have a hard time paring down the rest of my stuff... Doesn't help that I have a cedar chest that's really convenient for storing a lot of that sentimental junk. And it is a lot of junk... I seriously ought to get rid of a lot of it, but I can't seem to give up the attachment. :/ Any tips for nixing the sentimental attachments?

I've also got a huge collection of manga that ought to go... I love my anime, but I'm seriously not going to read it again. :/ (But it's that sentimental attachment thing again, sigh.) Reminds me that there's a stack of PF books I should list on Amazon though... (Penny books, but it'd still be nice to move the clutter out of my house!)

I read one time on Lifehacker (or it might've been Unclutterer) that you can store cords in empty CD spindles. I think it's the best storage idea yet, but I don't have empty spindles lying around.
