Update on my Life Goals

So here’s my original list, and here’s how I’ve done.

PERSONAL FINANCE

- Continue tracking and evaluating expenses

FB: Still on track :) haven’t missed a receipt yet!

RETIREMENT/SAVINGS

- Get vested in my company plan (May 2008)

FB: On track for the end of this month

- Get at least $10,000 in my personal investment account so I can stop paying $25-$100/year in account fees (Dec 2009)

- Continue to keep at least $1000 in my emergency fund savings (Ongoing)

FB: On track for the end of this month

DEBT

- Clear my gorilla debt (~$30,000) (Sep 2008)

FB: Actually, I’m about to clear it this month. End of this month it’ll be gone, not Sep 2008. HOW FAB IS THAT? I’m 4 months ahead of schedule!

- Clear my chimpanzee debt (~$15,000) (Apr 2009)

- Continue paying at least $1200 into my debt each month, with a max of $2000 a month (Ongoing, will end Apr 2009)

FB: On track for the end of this month, I should be throwing about $3k in there

FUNDS/EXPENSES

- Stay under $1200 (excluding airplane ticket cost) for one of the weddings I have to visit (Jul 2009)

FB: So far, it looks like I’m going to score the hotel for about $300 (splitting with BF)

- Reduce my spending (or at least curb it) to a minimum amount to about $50 a month on clothing and electronics (makeup and toiletries spending can be covered by my grocery and pharmacy points, or kicked entirely) (Ongoing)

FB: On track. I haven’t spent over $50 so far.

LIFE

- Get rid of at least 50% of my clothes and shoes via FB Closet (Dec 2008)

- Get rid of 90% of my books and comics (Dec 2008)

FB: So far, I got rid of some of my books, and made $65 in the process.. I still have lots to go but I’m going to try and do it once a week if I don’t sell anything on FB Closet.

- Get rid of all of my DVDs that I don’t want to keep or watch any longer, but am waiting for an Ebay 1 cent sale for listing (Dec 2008)

FB: Ugh. Is that easier than just throwing it to the book/dvd demons?

- Scan all my documents into electronic files (Dec 2008)

Update (Apr 16 2008) – FINISHED!!!! As of April 16th 2008. I scanned the last document in last night. So now, I just need to keep up on the documents as they come into my mailbox. :D :D :D

- Keep up on my receipts and organization for the next Tax Year (ongoing)

FB: On track for the end of this month

- Clean and Organize my Room after everything is said and done, and paint the walls white (Dec 2008)

CAREER

- Get trained on two major areas of my job I’d like to go to a course for this year (Dec 2008)

FB: Not gonna happen I think. Not enough $$ in the budget for this.

- Obtain a larger than $2000 (gross) bonus for my performance this year for 2009 (Feb 2009)

- Obtain a larger than 3% raise for my performance this year for 2009 because I’m switching to a higher level (Feb 2009)

FB: Talking to my manager today about a raise actually. I want one now, and another one in Feb 2009.

PERSONAL

- Get my drivers’ license (Sep 2008)

FB: This one is doable, about Mid October actually, so I’m changing the date.
