No Spend Month = Green!

Remember how I blogged about April being my no spend month

It’s already April 23rd, and guess what… I’M STILL ON TRACK :D

In fact, a bit under because I had budgeted for eating out for 2 meals, but those meals ended up being cancelled *shrug* All the better. I’m throwing it all into debt then.

So that means out of $150, I still have $89.69 left over for meals (and yes, I now pay half for everything I eat at BF’s, so that’s including those meals!!)

I haven’t spent any cashola on:

- Toiletries
- Makeup
- Clothing
- Shoes
- Electronics
- Books

And I’m going strong!

I think the motivation to snowflake the hell out of my debt, has really helped keep my brain in perspective and visualize my debt slowly decreasing bit, by bit, by bit…

Short Rant
You know what I hate the most? When you pay your debt down by $1000 or whatever on Friday payday, and come Monday, the transactions haven’t been posted, so you can’t even see exactly how much you paid down until Wednesday or whenever the system gets around to updating. I know it’s a stupid thing to rant about, but I REALLY like knowing the exact amount I have left owing, this very second, down to the last penny.

I HATE WAITING :)

Moving on…. I can’t claim that May will be a No Spend month too, because I already have a list of things I have in my plan to buy for May that I’ve been researching in April.

”NEEDS”

(Actually no one really NEEDS any of this stuff below, except for the cheapie sunglasses, but it’s stronger than a WANT for me.)

A bike + gear
This is going to be a major expense for me. About $500 in total for the bike, and all the minimum gear required to be on the trails. But I think it’s something I’d really like to do this summer and quite frankly, I don’t get much exercise in, and biking is incredibly enjoyable.

A new swimming suit
Yep.. my 2 bikinis from 2000? Out the door because the straps broke and the front on the other keeps coming undone (umm not so hot in front of little kids).

I’m now looking for a tankini or a one-piece. Something more practical and that won’t snap easily…

Rainboots
Specifically, rainboots from Tarjay. I don’t want to spend a lot of cash on rainboots considering I’ll be wearing them mostly when I’m in Vancouver. So if I can score them for $20, great. If not.. I’ll work something out, but I REALLY HATE wet feet.

Sunglasses
Umm.. wtf? I lost them somewhere, maybe on the train and now my eyes are hurting in the awful blinding, yet comforting sun. I just need a new pair. STAT!

WANTS

Workout clothing
This is definitely a want. To be more specific, I want a moisture-wicking top. I sweat a lot in my upper body, and in the summer, I can totally picture myself drenched in humidity…. And if I’m going to be walking a lot, I need this top to keep me sane.

White Pants
No justification whatsoever. I just want them. Seems very summery to me.

White Summer Dress
Ditto as above, but I want it to be a faux wrap top (I’ve decided), with a high enough neckline so I don’t have to wear a bra, doubly-lined since it’ll be white, in a soft, flowy jersey material and a band around the waist so I can tie a belt or a really cute colourful scarf to make it super cute.

woww I’m really impressed that you’ve stuck to your no spend goal this month!! Check you out :) I can’t really say the same for myself this month…I just bought 2 pairs of sunglasses yesterday. Granted they were about $15 each…but still ;)

impressive about the non-spending month- i’m assuming you’re taking up mountain biking, not road cycling. Have been mountain biking since I was 17 and it is great for fitness and the cheapest form of entertainment in the evening. It’s worth while spending money on a good saddle, cycling shorts( they come in baggies and lycra- but get something with some a chamois- for value, i would recommend cannondale cycling gear), and of course a helmet. (I use a Giro Skyla helmet- can be found on ebay for about $40) Look on ebay for some good deals but if you;re buying first-hand, you may need to increase your budget for a half-decently specced bike

Alison: Well I’m trying to find a good pair this time that sits on my nose… the other pair was kind of wonky

Marisol: Thanks! :) I can’t say that for next month though LOL

LadyLuck: I don’t have that here in Canada :( And I’d go on Craig’s list but I’m afraid the cost of changing the tires and whatever else is wrong will end up costing more in the end

    Dawn: Thanks!

Actually it’s trail/city biking, not mountain biking. So I don’t need something quite so rugged.. and it’s just on weekends with BF
