The Wardobe Series is starting

I’m starting a series on decluttering your wardrobe, finding your personal style and everything in between because I’m in the middle of doing it myself for 2008.

This isn’t going to be a quick fix, all-in-one-shot weekend kind of deal.

You have to be willing to devote at least 8 weekends to do everything if you don’t want to burn out halfway through.

You have been warned! :)

How many times have you looked into your closet and said the following:

- Ugh, when did I ever wear those?

- I hate that material. It feels so cheap and itchy on my body.

- I still have price tags on most of my clothes

- I have WAYYYY too many shoes/tops/bottoms/skirts and I only wear 20% of it

- Why do I still have this?

- This skirt/top/pants/dress makes me feel fat

- Oh that’s my sister’s from 8 years ago.. I ought to give it back to her.

Etc etc etc…

I’ve said every single one of those lines, and some more than once on the same item!

So, I really need to pare down everything. There is no way I need these many clothes and shoes, and I’m more of an accessories girl anyway ;) (Plus, I’m on this real Zen, decluttering schtick and staring into my bloated closet makes me sick)

In the end, the goal is to have a closet filled with pieces I cherish and know I truly love on my body, and to have my unwanted items go to better use either to my friends, to charity, or to women who are in need of modern, professional business-like attire to get back into the workforce to make a living.

And I have a good feeling that many of you could pare down at least 50% of your wardrobe ;) No? At least 20% then!

Here’s what’s coming up in the series:

1. Take a look at what you’ve got
2. What is your lifestyle like?
3. Assess your personal style
4. Determine what makes you feel fabulous
5. Begin to slowly declutter
6. The finishing line

Yeah! You know how much I love organizing my wardrobe : )

Now, I got to learn how to sew and see if I can get some pieces back into my wardrobe.

I also look inside my closet and feel sick. Every. Single. Time. I have this “thing” where I closet purge every few months and it feels so therapeutic! Even my bff asks me to purge her closet!

Anyway, I stumbled on your blog a few days ago after Google-ing “thigh high boots” (yes, weird eh?) and would just like to say I love your blog! I am already a devoted reader :)
