Jessica Simpson’s Prairie Outfit

I know where she’s going with the look.. but I don’t buy it.

On her, it just looks frumpy for some reason. I understand she’s trying to look chic and elegant, and she DOES pull it off (easily I might add because she’s gorgeous and curvy), but I feel like her hair should’ve been down, or she should’ve worn dangly earrings with a really funky chain watch/bracelet cuff… and not have played it so safe with the shoes.

It’s a bit o’ “Little House on the Prairie” for me… Maybe a thin corset-like wrapped belt would’ve been cute to break up all of that blue (patent, blackish purple? burgundy red?)

And the purse is…. wrong. First of all, I don’t like it (maybe it’s just me), but it doesn’t seem to go with the outfit. Second, the proportion of the purse to her body and with so much fabric covering up everything is all wrong.

With that outfit, I’d like a long leather clutch to add something to the outfit. Or something edgier like this (but no belt in this case):

Am I wrong?

You’re right, it’s a little off. It keeps making me think of Dallas (the show) for some weird reason.

I like it, actually. The vibrant blue is the standout of the dress. I don’t think it looks Prarie-ish; it looks classy and understated to me, esp. w/ the nude pumps. The dark manicure gives it a modern edge.

I agree with VG about the shoes. You are right about a different clutch. The color is stunning on her and her hair looks good.

Naomi: I just find it odd…

Val: Hmm I see your point. I guess I’m just used to seeing her in more cleavage-y tops and leg-baring skirts???….

Shoeaddict: I’m not denying the colour looks fab on her.. I just think the cut doesn’t suit her or ^^^^ as I mentioned to Val, I’m just not used to her looking that covered up.

Wow. It is so, conservative- like something you would see on a hutterite colony here in Alberta

I love that clutch, but not with the outfit. The outfit in general is just wrong. It should be given to the Salvation Army. Your pick for a clutch is fab, Fab! Who’s it by?

mezamashii: It’s something about it that doesn’t look elegant or regal on her. On Angelina Jolie, her attitude would totally rock it out and make it hot….

G.G.: Shopmart.com ? :) It was by a random individual seller….. no real name to it!
